ONE HEART ONE SOUL - Newsletter 4

I have been getting a few enquiries on practical issues, hence this letter which hopefully will answer some of your queries. FINANCE There are ATMs all over India. You can easily use them to withdraw cash from your account. If you are carrying cash, I would suggest carry this in AUD 50 and AUD 100 note denominations. This can be changed at hotel receptions or airport currency exchanges. Keep in mind, most items have been paid for; you will require cash for incidentals like ...

It originates in the higher reaches of the Tibetan plateau. It definitely spreads its largesse to the alluvial plains of the Assam valley. Assam is the largest producer of timber and tea in the country and also has the oldest refinery in India. The state is home to many endangered wild life species such as one-horned r ...

The fort contains Danish artefacts and interesting snippets of  ...

Is it a fish or a bird

Bombay Duck! Is it a bird or a fish? It certainly is a fish. To be precise, it is the lizard fish that is found in the Arabian Sea, off the coast of Mumbai. It is a rather slimy fish with no distinctive flavour. Eaten fresh, it is filleted, marinated with spices and then deep fried. Most locals prefer it in its dried form, rolled in spices and then deep fried. It forms a good starter. Try it the next time you visit Mumbai. How did it get its name? In 1853 when the first Railway started i ...

A walk down memory lane

A walk down memory lane for me! As children we were taken here as a special treat after a shopping expedition to the near by Crawford market. In Uni, I often had a quick meal before going for a movie in the Metro Cinema opposite. To think that it has been serving the people of Mumbai since 1904. What a change from the "here today gone tomorrow" society we currently live in! There are many gems like this restaurant in Mumbai, a city that I will be leading a tour to shortly "One Heart  ...
